Cut In Borgert Steps

Phase #1 of this Touch of Eden Landscape Design was to (a) demo & haul away the old lake access steps that were rotten, and (b) to replace them with 4’ Borgert Steps. This particular client was looking for wide steps with deep treads. We were able to give a wide & deep tread by cutting into the hillside slightly so that the stair/steps would eventually be near handicap accessible. It was paramount that we make these steps as handicap accessible as possible. Now, of course, you wouldn’t be able to drive a wheelchair across this access, but it is wide enough for a Walker to traverse each step and each extended landing. We surprised the Clients with a sitting rock along the first landing, overlooking the lake. Family members are already clamoring over whose sitting rock it belongs to. Our Crew knocked this out over the course of about 4 days. Next year we plan on returning for Phase #2, which is adding a Handrail to the inside of the stair/step path.
