Gabion Wall Flagstone FIRE PIT

The familiar smell of campfire smoke and the ambient glow of fire and embers wafting from the charred wood are among the most iconic Northwoods staycations. Landscaping around such a memory-maker is no small task, especially when it’s on the embankment of a steep hillside, overlooking a bay. Touch of Eden employed a unique half-wall, or setting wall, on this particular project, called a Gabion Wall. Simply put, it’s a cage filled with rock. Not so simply put ~ our crews attached large cut flagstone as the caps.

This project won over our clients and their guests. It tied in nicely to the existing flagstone steppers leading to the lake access, and the Boulder Perimeter gave it a sturdy appeal. Once the Lawn was reestablished, it became a great blend of both hardscape stone and soft edges of grass, shrubs, and perennials interwoven throughout the extended landscaping.
